Summer has a way of throwing routines off. Vacations, travel, kids being home, and changing schedules can make it harder to train regularly and stay on track with nutrition.
Then fall arrives in the Rocky Mountains. Work, school, and family schedules settle into a more predictable rhythm, making it a great time to reset your fitness routine.
Here in Colorado Springs and along the Front Range, it is also a chance to build some momentum before colder weather, shorter days, and the holidays arrive.
And you don’t have to wait until January to get started.
Use Your Fall Schedule to Your Advantage
One of the best things about fall is having more structure in your week.
Take a look at your calendar and decide when training realistically fits around work, school, family, and everything else you have going on. Pick a manageable number of workouts each week and schedule them like you would any other commitment.
At CrossFit Controlled Chaos, our 60-minute classes make it easier to get a complete workout into a busy day. We also offer extensive Open Gym hours for those times when a class doesn’t fit your schedule.
Your week doesn’t need to be perfect. You just need a plan flexible enough to adjust when life happens.
Start With What You Can Maintain
It’s easy to approach a fitness reset by trying to change everything at once: more workouts, better nutrition, more sleep, more water, and a complete overhaul of your daily routine.
You don’t need to do that.
Start with consistency. Maybe your first goal is simply training three days a week. Once that feels like a normal part of your schedule, you can start adding other habits around it.
Small changes you can maintain will do more for you than an aggressive reset that lasts a few weeks.
This is also why our approach at CrossFit Controlled Chaos focuses on Fitness, Nutrition, and Accountability. Your goals give us the direction, and our knowledge helps turn those goals into a realistic plan.
This is where your goals, combined with our knowledge, become reality.
Give Yourself Something to Work Toward
What would you like to accomplish this fall?
Maybe you want to train three or four days each week. Maybe you want to get stronger, improve your conditioning, or finally work on a skill you’ve been putting off.
It doesn’t have to be an extreme goal. It just needs to matter to you.
Having something specific to work toward can be especially helpful as the season changes. As temperatures drop and we spend more time indoors, staying active can require a little more intention.
Instead of relying on motivation, you have a reason to keep showing up.
Remember That Fitness Is More Than the Workout
Training is important, but your time in the gym is only part of the picture.
Nutrition, sleep, hydration, and recovery all support what you’re trying to accomplish. You don’t need to tackle all of them at once, either. Start where you are and build from there.
Accountability matters, too.
We’ve seen that when members keep training during a busy season, having that hour set aside can provide some much-needed structure. You get time to focus on yourself, see familiar faces, and have support from coaches and other members.
Sometimes just knowing people expect to see you is enough to get you through the door on a day when motivation is low.
Fall Fitness in Colorado Springs
Anyone who has spent a fall along the Front Range knows how quickly conditions can change. A warm, sunny afternoon can turn into a cold evening, and shorter days can make it tempting to head home and stay there.
Having a dependable indoor place to train takes the weather out of the equation.
At CrossFit Controlled Chaos, our classes and Open Gym hours give members options to keep moving even when Colorado weather has other plans.
The goal isn’t to create a routine that only works when everything goes right. It’s to create one that can keep working when schedules change, the weather turns, or life simply gets busy.
Don’t Wait Until January
If summer knocked you out of your routine, you don’t need to write off the rest of the year.
Start with something manageable this fall. Choose a few days to train, put them on your calendar, and focus on showing up.
By the time the holidays and colder Colorado Springs weather arrive, you can already have a routine that feels normal instead of waiting for January to start from scratch.
You don’t need a New Year’s resolution. You just need a first step.
If you’re not sure what that step should look like, book a FREE No Sweat Introduction at CrossFit Controlled Chaos. We’ll sit down, talk about your goals, and give you more information about how our approach to Fitness, Nutrition, and Accountability can help you build a plan that fits your life.
